As everyone says that NL Holdem is the Cadillac of poker, we should consider the World series of poker as the Big Daddy of any pokertournament / event.
Everyone knows and talks about this tournament of champions, and dreams about being a worldchampion. However, it is not that easy to achieve that goal.
The main event of the World Series of Poker is a $10,000 buy-in game of no-limit Holdem. For the laymen out there, that mean in order to get a seat in this game, you must slap down 10 large upfront. Unless of course you qualify for the events via an online satellite tournament, wich every pokerroom offers to give everyone a chance.
Ofcourse high rollers don’t have to worry about it. They all head up to Vegas and grab a 10K chip out of their pockets.
The field gets tougher and bigger every year. As we have seen many pros got knocked out by younger and talented players. Final tables aren’t exlusive for pros anymore. We have seen some unknown players like Jamie Gold and Jerry Yang cashing out a fat cheque in their pockets. Was it luck? Luck is just a small element in poker. It requires skill and math to beat 10000 players.
NL Holdem is the main event, however they have a lot more wich is maybe less known, but as popular in certain circles. Important fact is that not every buy-in is 10K. It goes from 500 dollar -wich is for casino employees only- to 50.000 dollar
The WSOP circuit contains NL Holdem, HORSE, Pot Limit Holdem, Razz,
The big rising question is ofcourse, who is going to win this years Main Event?
Will Phill Helmuth take another WSOP bracelet? Will a young player beat the pros?
All these speculations keeps everyone busy.
Hereby I ask u to post in the forum wich is your favorite player to win and why.
If you had the chance to participate the WSOP trough an online satellite, what would you do? Keep the cash and grind online with 10K or take your chances in Vegas?
Let us know!
This was my intro article about the WSOP, and still more to come.
